Nike MAXSIGHT™ contact lenses are the result of a partnership between Nike and Bausch & Lomb. Nike MAXSIGHT is a soft contact lens available in two glare-reducing tints. The athlete gets crisp, clear vision without anything getting in their way.

Whether it’s on the field, the track, the green or the court, athletes want comfort, less glare, enhanced contrast, reduced exposure to UVA and UVB radiation and options for all sports, including tennis and soccer.

What are Nike MAXSIGHT™ lenses by Bausch & Lomb?

Nike MAXSIGHT is a revolutionary tinted soft contact lens that provides excellent visual performance benefits for athletes and recreational wearers that helps eliminate image distortion and improves field of vision. Nike MAXSIGHT is available in two different sport-specific tints that come in both corrective and non-corrective versions.

How does it work?

The patented Light Architecture selectively filters specific wavelengths of light to visually enhance key elements in sport, such as a ball, filtering most of the blue light and manipulating the remaining colors of the visible spectrum to enhance critical details in the sporting environment. These features of the Nike MAXSIGHT lens combine to provide visual benefits to athletes such as an exceptional view of contours on a given field of play, reduced sun glare and the ability to track fast-moving game activity under variable light conditions.

What are the benefits to the recreational wearer of Nike MAXSIGHT lenses?

The recreational wearer benefits from less general eye strain and the issues associated with fogging, scratching or sweating behind plastic lenses of prescription sports goggles or glasses. There’s also no nosepiece or frame to limit the field of vision. Nike MAXSIGHT wearers get the same clear view at all angles.

What is the difference between the two Nike MAXSIGHT lens colors?

Athletes and recreational wearers can select between amber and grey-green lenses, depending on their sport needs. Amber is superior for fast-moving ball sports in variable light conditions (such as baseball, soccer and tennis), while the grey-green lens is ideal for sports played in bright sunlight where glare and comfort are primary concerns, (such as golf, running and rugby).

Do you need a vision prescription to wear Nike MAXSIGHT lenses?

An eyecare professional must fit the product. The lenses will be available for both those with vision correction needs and for those who do not need vision correction.

How long do Nike MAXSIGHT™ lenses last?

The Nike MAXSIGHT lenses are daily wear lenses that need to be replaced monthly. Most athletes will wear them selectively and for short durations during this period of time. Ask your eye care professional how long you may wear the Nike MAXSIGHT lenses.

Are Nike MAXSIGHT lenses only for elite athletes?

No, Nike MAXSIGHT is for ANY athlete looking for a competitive edge.

Are Nike MAXSIGHT lenses cleared through the FDA?

Yes, Nike MAXSIGHT received FDA clearance on 04/26/05

Is the technology patented?

Yes, there are several patents pertaining to the Nike MAXSIGHT technology.

Will Bausch & Lomb expand the line with additional tints?

There are no specific plans at this point in time to expand the line with additional tints, but both companies will continue to pursue future possibilities, which may include specialty designs

How is Nike MAXSIGHT™ different from other tinted contact lenses?

The tint on the Nike MAXSIGHT lens covers the entire surface of the lens. In addition, the specific tints on the Nike MAXSIGHT lenses were specifically formulated to block certain wavelengths of light. Most other tinted lenses serve no function and are strictly for cosmetic purposes. Such cosmetic tints usually cover a much smaller surface area of the lens as a way to isolate and alter the perceived color of the wearer’s iris. Currently, Nike MAXSIGHT is the only commercially available sport-tinted contact lens on the market.

Is there any health benefit for your eyes by wearing MAXSIGHT™ lenses?

Nike MAXSIGHT filters most of the potentially harmful UV light from entering the eye. A large body of clinical research exists supporting the healthful benefits of limiting entrance of these types of radiation into the ocular system. However, while a Nike MAXSIGHT lens may provide some benefit to the wearer versus no UV protection, Nike MAXSIGHT does not replace sunglasses for full protection of the eye and the surrounding ocular tissue.
